Etienne Prophete Hatian Christian Mission
Two days after the convention in Haiti on July 10-13, I was privileged to
fly to Oregon and Alaska upon the invitation of churches, camp directors
and friends. I could not have been more blessed. Making new friends and
reconnecting with friends made my trip a package of blessing that I would
not trade for anything else. People and friends bend over backward to make
my trip a successful one. I am thankful. It all started when Jimmie and
Sharon Hargrove in Brookings, OR invited me to the possibility of revisiting
their church. That followed by Don and Dorothy Kimball who hosted my arrival
in their home. That gave me the opportunity to speak at Westside Christian
Church where the HCM friends and supporters came together for an evening
of praise to our Lord, fellowship and sharing of a delicious potluck dinner
topped off with a large offering to start a woodworking shop.
The following week I had the privilege of speaking at Woodburn Christian and
a group of godly women and Suburban Christian where I interpreted for Eddy
Bernard whose work is supported by the latter. Then it was time to hop on
the plane to go to Alaska. I was given the privilege of speaking at two
camps lead by Lucas/Lidya Lance the first week and Andrew/Michele Titus the
second week. After raiding the refrigerator of Bill and Nancy Lance, I was
led to Camp Challenge where I spent two paradisiacal weeks with young and
loving children along with their counselors. My goal was three fold:
1. God led me to a contact with a large church through Deanne and Ron
Baker, members of that church. If God blesses this contact, we hope to
get the tabernacle (steel tent) built this year before the 2009 convention.
It would mean that the people will not get rained on and not be exposed to
the hot sun for the Sunday morning worship. Please pray for that to
happen.
2. Building a woodworking shop has been in the plan for years. We have a
young Hatian man by the name of Evens Charles who is very skilled in
woodworking. But we did not have the means. On this trip the Lord
has opened some doors with donations to get us there. We are going to
build a shed and buy tools to make it happen. This small beginning is
designed to lead to a large enterprise.
3. I have always wanted to learn more on computers tricks to improve
missions work. Ron and Cynthia Latin of Brookings helped me with that.
Furthermore, Cathy Croghan brought me to a farm where I learn more
about organic gardening. What a blessing the trip was for me!
I have devoted my to a learning process so I may teach others what I have
learnedand so they may in turn teach others what they have learned
(2 Tim.2:2). Thank you for making it possible for me to learn and for your
support. Successis on the way in spite of difficulties. While we are preparing a
report to send you over the food distribution program you funded, we want to thank you wholeheartedly.
With the KINGDOM in mind, the best is yet to come.
